Feed Two Bunnies For A Year

FUNDED April 3 2013 – Thank You!

FFA_MountainBoy_Rabbit_March2013Many animal shelters lack the proper facilities to care for pet rabbits abandoned after Easter. Luckily, many special rescue groups and sanctuaries exist to help out the bunnies and provide permanent homes for those who cannot be adopted. One such group is the Rabbit Sanctuary in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

A typical resident is Mountain Boy, a rabbit retrieved from a shelter. The shelter staff had done the best that they could, keeping him away from the dogs and cats by setting up very large pen for him in the middle of the floor, but they needed the space. So they called the Sanctuary for help.

Now, Mountain Boy lives in one of the organization’s special “Rabbitats.” Because rabbits are social creatures, rescues like Mountain Boy are paired with other friendly, neutered bunnies to provide them with company but not add to the abandoned rabbit population!

Other Sanctuary residents come from concerned citizens who find abandoned pets in their gardens or by the side of the road. Domestic rabbits, unlike their wild brethren, cannot survive easily in the wild and often come to harm very quickly after release.

Your donation through The Animal Rescue Site’s Gifts That Give More [tm] can help even more rabbits live in a perfect bunny haven.

GreaterGood.org’s contributions to Fund for Animals’ forever sanctuaries for rescued pets and injured wildlife are made possible by the support of donors, shoppers, and clickers at The Animal Rescue Site.

When it comes to early childhood literacy, low-income kids are at a disadvantage. Studies show that low-income families send their kids to first grade with only a fraction of the read-aloud story time that middle class first graders have. SitStayRead addresses this deficit by giving at-risk kids the chance to practice their reading skills in a fun, pressure-free way — with their very own canine reading partner! The Peruvian city of Ica was once surrounded by life-giving huarango forest, which for centuries held vital water reserves.
