Provide Ten Vets With Pets

FUNDED May 21 2013 – Thank You!

SgtDavidandCharliePets for Vets rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to be loving companions for veterans suffering from emotional or physical trauma. Truly this is a case of “we don’t know who saved who,” but we do know that love abounds.

Pets for Vets found three-year-old Charlie, a female husky, in a shelter. When they first met Charlie, the depressed young dog with badly matted fur looked like a mess and had been passed over for adoption. After a thorough cleaning and de-matting, Charlie entered the Pets for Vets training program.

Sergeant David Mills served for more than nine years in the U.S. Army. As a result of his time in Iraq, Mills suffers from PTSD, TBI, vertigo, and pain from bone spurs. One side effect of the PTSD was nightmares and anxiety around people.

Today, Charlie uses her Pets for Vet training to support her own special person with love. She is Sergeant Mills’ constant companion, always staying by his side. These days, Charlie is a happy dog and her owner is more comfortable in crowds and has seen his overall emotional health improve.

Your click will help ten other shelter dogs and ten other veterans find the same comfort and joy.

Straddling the border between the United States and Mexico, the diverse ecosystem of the Sky Islands is one of the few remaining North American homes to the jaguar. The territory of this incredible, biodiverse region is disappearing at an alarming rate. While some tracts of land are being preserved, for animals like the jaguar, connected and continuous wildlife corridors are key. These big cats need room to roam in order to find water, food, and shelter so long-term, healthy populations can thrive.
