Provide 10 Pallets of Pet Food For Shelters

FUNDED March 21 2013 – Thank You!

RescueBank_Sept15Distribution_March182013In 2006, Elizabeth Asher and John Kane formed Rescue Bank, a nonprofit that literally moves pallets of pet food from factories to the shelters and rescue groups that need it most.

Since partnering with The Animal Rescue Site in 2011, the organization has stretched their web of distribution sites out of the Southwest to serve animal rescue groups and shelters across the nation. Today they have delivered millions of pounds of pet food to more than 1,200 groups through 31 distribution affiliates as well as providing additional aid during hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and tornadoes to communities in need. Your donation through The Animal Rescue Site’s Gifts That Give More™ can help them reach their goal of regular deliveries in all 50 states even faster.

Groups who have received these bags and cans of pet food report that each delivery allows them to put more money into spay/neuter programs, veterinary care, and improved facilities. The impact is far greater than one filled bowl or even 45 million filled bowls (the estimated number of pets helped by this program between 2011 and today). It’s literally thousands of pets saved daily.

GreaterGood.org’s contributions to Rescue Bank are made possible by the support of donors, shoppers, and clickers at The Animal Rescue Site.

80,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Despite being a US territory, animal adoption programs in Puerto Rico are decades behind their counterpart in America. Less than 45% percent of dogs and 30% of cats that make it to shelters are ever adopted, and there are hundreds of thousands of street dogs and stray cats in this small island chain that will never get a chance at adoption in the first place. You can help. Your click will fund the One Picture Saves a Life workshop in San Juan and the renovation of the Las Marias PAWS satellite shelter in rural West-Central Puerto Rico. Together we can make a significant impact on the welfare of animals in Puerto Rico.

The protection of elephants begins at home. Studies have shown that without community support, it is nearly impossible to stop poaching. Our partner in Kenya, Wildlife Works, employs local villagers to work as rangers. These dedicated men and women patrol over 500,000 acres, protecting wildlife as they migrate between two large national parks—Tsavo East and Tsavo West. As expert trackers accustomed to the terrain, the rangers are especially qualified to protect Kenya’s endangered elephants.
