Help Veterans Save Coral Reefs

FUNDED November 10 2017 – Thank You!

Help preserve precious coral reefs and rehabilitate returning combat veterans. One tank of air provides one hour of dive time for a veteran to restore coral reefs.

The State of Coral Reefs

Home to one-quarter of the world’s marine life, coral reefs are critically important for food, income, protection and new medicines. They are some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet, yet 60% of the world’s coral reefs are now dead or in decline. With 2016 being the hottest year on record, our reefs are more vulnerable than ever. We can make a difference, but we need to do so before it is too late.

Returning Combat Veterans

For combat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, moving on from the pain and trauma they’ve experienced can be almost impossible. The difficulties they face in relating their military training to non-military work only exacerbates the problem. To better assimilate, these men and women must be made to realize that they are not alone and that their skills and training are transferable.

How You Can Help Both:

FORCE BLUE trains select Special Operations veterans to preserve and restore coral reefs by transplanting coral to ensure its survival, removing invasive species and working to relieve other man-made stressors. For our participating veterans, FORCE BLUE provides a new mission: a chance to learn about and explore one of the most critically endangered ecosystems on the planet and the opportunity to adapt their training and teamwork to aid in its protection. For the world’s coral reefs, FORCE BLUE serves as both a teaching tool and a recruitment vehicle. It is a highly visible way to raise public awareness, to reach a new audience with the message of conservation and to enlist a new generation of dedicated, determined advocates.

With your help we can save more of the coral reefs. Your clicks will provide air tanks to 16 veterans to repair reefs.
