Provide 3 Months of Food for Hodari the Courageous K9

FUNDED November 22 2017 – Thank You!

GreaterGood.org is celebrating 10 Years of Giving Where It Matters! Help us protect endangered species by supporting CourageousK9s like Hodari.
Meet Hodari, a CourageousK9 who protects her flock and village family from attacks by lions and other carnivores. Hodari is a 4-year-old gentle-giant of a dog who lives in a remote village in the Ruaha landscape in Tanzania. The Ruaha landscape is a critical conservation area — 10% of all wild African lions occur in this unfenced landscape which includes a national park, wilderness areas, and village land. Hodari is a treasured member of the Lion Guarding Dog team. Guarding Dogs, when placed with families, as in the case of Hodari, contribute to a drop in lion attacks on livestock and this results in less retaliatory lion killings. Hodari needs your help to ensure her work to reduce human — lion conflict can continue so that the endangered lion populations in remote Ruaha do not become extinct. Attacks by lions and other carnivores are often at night, so Hodari sleeps in her little tower in the middle of the livestock enclosure with the livestock, barking to alert them if there is danger. In order to keep her safe and healthy, she needs regular medical check-ups which are expensive in the remote village where she currently lives. You can help. Your urgent support will ensure Hodari and other brave dogs like her can continue to harness their superb sense of smell, energy, and eagerness for the greater good of the planet.

CourageousK9s, a program of GreaterGood.org, is committed to supporting dogs working to protect people and the planet. These brave dogs are trained specifically to help children, veterans, victims of violence, those with disabilities, and in cases of disaster; as well as protect habitat and save wildlife. We partner with organizations utilizing animal’s unique intelligence, innate senses, and individual willingness and desire to work to achieve goals that humans may not be able to accomplish without them.

Help Save the Red Panda: Completed September 17, 2018

66,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

In native Red Panda habitat, which includes Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal, human population is rapidly growing and expanding. As people take over more land to build houses and roads, collect firewood, and graze their cattle, these adorable creatures are pushed out of their habitat. More roads make it easier for poachers to steal Red Pandas to sell to China — whose people like Red Pandas for their meat, traditional medicinal uses, and skins — and for others who want a “cute” Red Panda as a pet. Please click today to help us protect this vulnerable species.

Providing food, vaccinations, bedding, and enrichment needs for dogs is a costly endeavor for animal shelters across the country. Fund 110 Miles of a Lion’s Journey to a Better Life: Completed August 24, 2018

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Animals have suffered for decades in traveling circuses in Guatemala. After the extent of this suffering was exposed, thankfully the country banned the use of animals in circuses. However, an unintended consequence of this ban is that many of the animals—including these five lions—are languishing in small, rusting circus cages, waiting to be rescued. These animals need food, veterinary care, a new home to live out their lives, and safe transportation to that new home. Please click today to help fund 110 miles of the journey for one of these lions.
