Help Provide Mammograms for Women in Need

FUNDED July 16 2018 – Thank You!

Help close the healthcare gap by bringing early detection to those who cannot afford it.

Mammograms are one of the best methods to catch breast cancer before it’s too late. In fact, if the disease is caught early enough, the five-year survival rate is 96%.

But many women in the United States lack health insurance that covers the full cost of mammograms, and cannot afford to pay for them out-of-pocket.

According to a recent report from the American Cancer Society, low-income women in at least twenty states are being turned away or put on long waiting lists for free cancer screenings. At least fourteen states cut budgets for free cancer screenings this year: Colorado, Montana, Illinois, Alabama, Minnesota, Connecticut, South Carolina, Utah, Missouri, Washington, Ohio, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Arkansas. In California alone, state cutbacks will leave an estimated 100,000 poverty-stricken women unable to get cancer screenings over the next six months.

Elsewhere in the world, the access to mammograms and the ability to catch the disease in its most treatable stages continues to be unavailable to most women. Yet the rate of breast cancer continues to grow. It is now the most common cancer in women in both developing and developed areas and the principal cause of death from cancer among women globally.

You can help. Your generous click today helps fund free mammograms for low income, uninsured and working poor women.

Give a Voice to a Non-Verbal Child: Completed January 18, 2019

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

It is estimated that nearly 40% of individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder are non-verbal. The inability to effectively communicate the most basic of needs can be extremely frustrating and, in some cases, can even create serious safety risks for individuals who are non-verbal. The National Autism Association’s Give A Voice program provides a tablet with an intuitive voice-output communication app, which gives nonverbal children and young adults the ability to build phrases and sentences pictographically, which are then converted to audible speech. Please click today to give a voice!

Provide Formula for 66 Kittens in Foster Care: Completed January 16, 2019

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

During kitten season in South Florida, tens of thousands of stray kittens are born each month. These kittens often end up in overcrowded, understaffed, and underfunded animal shelters that do not have the ability to house or care for them until they are adopted. Lumen L.S. is working to substantially decrease the euthanasia rate by rescuing as many kittens as they can. Please click today to help feed and care for kittens so they can have a second chance at life!

45,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

All around the world, species of animals and plants have gone unseen for years or decades, and are feared possibly extinct. That’s why Global Wildlife Conservation (GWC) launched the Search for Lost Species, the largest ever global quest to find and protect species that have not been seen in the wild in decades. Many of the ecosystems being researched face the risk of disappearing forever due to habitat destruction and degradation. The rediscovery of these species could stimulate the creation of protected areas that will not only safeguard these species, but countless others that depend on these very same habitats. Please click today to help fund 9 weeks of critical research!
