Feed 18 Veterans’ Service Dogs for One Week

FUNDED July 4 2018 – Thank You!

Help train and provide service dogs of the highest quality, at no cost to disabled American veterans in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence.

American Soldiers are coming home in greater numbers than in previous wars because of the improvements in body armor. Although the number of survivors has increased, they are coming back with more life-changing injuries and disabilities. This includes invisible injuries like PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Over 400,000 veterans have been diagnosed with PTSD or TBI since 2001. We are losing these American Heroes at the rate of 22 per day to suicide. Our goal is to cut down on the number of suicides by assisting disabled veterans in regaining their emotional and physical independence and confidence by providing them with a service dog. GreaterGood.org is working with Patriot PAWS Service Dogs that specialize in training rescued dogs to provide services for Veterans with mental health issues. 3.9 million dogs enter animal shelters per year. Of those 3.9 million dogs, 1.2 million are euthanized. We are able to work with partners to identify dogs and pull them out of shelters and into our program. Dogs that do not end up meeting training goals for therapy purposes are adopted into loving homes.

It takes 2 to 2.5 years to train a full mobility service dog. However, PTSD dogs can be trained in approximately half that time. This will help us to place more dogs with more veterans. Thus, saving lives of more veterans and dogs alike. It is reported that nearly 30% of our military men and women will suffer from PTSD without any other injury or disability. These veterans cannot escape the horrors of war because of the overwhelming anxiety that follows them home. They also battle the difficulty of having injuries that cannot be seen by others. What people cannot see, they do not understand even though it is very real and traumatic to the injured party. A dog’s gentle spirit that touches one’s soul can provide companionship and comfort for veterans that no one else understands. This companionship offers the security and confidence that is needed to help them reintegrate into society, and learn to live in the civilian world.

Your generous clicks today can help get these veterans back to living a normal life. They have protected us—now you can help protect them.

Patriot PAWS Service Dogs is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American Veterans, and others with mobile disabilities and PTS in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Patriot PAWS intends to build partnerships with state and community organizations to help develop and support this goal.

Help Save the Red Panda: Completed September 17, 2018

66,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

In native Red Panda habitat, which includes Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal, human population is rapidly growing and expanding. As people take over more land to build houses and roads, collect firewood, and graze their cattle, these adorable creatures are pushed out of their habitat. More roads make it easier for poachers to steal Red Pandas to sell to China — whose people like Red Pandas for their meat, traditional medicinal uses, and skins — and for others who want a “cute” Red Panda as a pet. Please click today to help us protect this vulnerable species.

Providing food, vaccinations, bedding, and enrichment needs for dogs is a costly endeavor for animal shelters across the country. Due to the high cost of these basic necessities, shelters often have to limit the number of dogs that they can save and provide homes for. A warm bed and a full belly can go a long way for the well-being of shelter dogs. Your clicks alone can provide bowls of dog food, warm beds, and vaccinations for shelter dogs in need!

Fund 110 Miles of a Lion’s Journey to a Better Life: Completed August 24, 2018

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Animals have suffered for decades in traveling circuses in Guatemala. After the extent of this suffering was exposed, thankfully the country banned the use of animals in circuses. However, an unintended consequence of this ban is that many of the animals—including these five lions—are languishing in small, rusting circus cages, waiting to be rescued. These animals need food, veterinary care, a new home to live out their lives, and safe transportation to that new home. Please click today to help fund 110 miles of the journey for one of these lions.
