Help Protect 10 Million Acres of New National Parks in Chile
FUNDED July 30 2018 – Thank You!
The President of Chile and Tompkins Conservation have signed a historic pledge to create 11 million acres of new national parks! Help us ensure these parks are protected into perpetuity.
On March 15, 2017, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet and Kristine McDivitt Tompkins, leader of Tompkins Conservation, signed a pledge indicating their shared commitment to significantly expand national parkland in Chile by approximately 11 million acres (three times the size of Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks combined). The proposal represents the largest land donation in history from a private entity to a state. When completed it will result in the creation of five new national parks including Pumalín and Patagonia Park, which contain one million acres and world-class infrastructure – and the expansion of three others.
Now, we need your help to ensure the legal and transaction costs are covered to enact this historic national park creation. Over the coming months, the Tompkins Conservation team will be working closely with government ministers to finalize the details of this momentous step towards wilderness protection in the world. By acting now, you can help ensure that these precious lands become fully functioning national parks, protected into perpetuity.
Your click supports wilderness conservation in Patagonia and will give species like the endangered huemul deer – a national symbol in Chile – secure habitat for generations to come.

Currently, the Rescate Fenix shelter in Sonora, Mexico has to keep their rescued dogs outside. There is no paved or shaded area, so the dogs must either sit or lay on dirt ground, with neither sun nor rain protection. Summer temperatures can reach 115 degrees, and during the rainy season, mud and wetness increase skin problems and medical issues in a cycle of misery. To protect these poor dogs from extreme weather, to allow their skin ailments to heal, and to provide both desperately needed comfort and enrichment, Rescate Fenix is hoping to construct Salas, shade structures elevated from the ground. Please click today to help build these structures, and give better lives to these dogs!
