Feed 10 Orphaned Kittens for a Week

FUNDED June 4 2018 – Thank You!

We are in urgent need of your help to save and care for orphaned kittens!

Perhaps you already know Southern California has a lot of sunshine, beaches, and tourists. Know what else it has a lot of? Kittens! With Spring comes “kitten season”, the time of year when most kittens are born, and when shelters like San Diego Humane Society are flooded with orphaned babies in desperate need of nurturing care. While being surrounded by adorable kittens may seem like a dream, the reality is that newborn kittens are the most delicate of creatures and require intensive care and significant resources to help them grow into healthy cats. San Diego Humane Society’s kitten nursery serves as a lifesaving refuge for 1,200 to 1,500 orphaned kittens each year. These fragile animals are often underdeveloped, facing medical challenges and highly susceptible to disease, and their medical needs and requirements are extensive.

San Diego Humane Society’s kitten nursery helps orphaned and abandoned kittens beat the odds by providing around-the-clock care and veterinary services vital for healthy, adoptable juvenile development. Staff and specially trained volunteers bottle feed orphaned neonates every three to four hours, teach them to groom themselves, help them maintain a healthy body temperature, and otherwise provide the same attention kittens would normally receive from their mothers. Absolutely no healthy and treatable kittens are euthanized in San Diego County shelters, and the nursery is unquestionably the safety net for saving these tiny lives.

San Diego Humane Society’™s kitten nursery is the first of its kind in the country and continues to be a model for shelters that want to expand their operations to save this vulnerable population of animals.

Your generous clicks today provide specialized care for homeless and orphaned kittens in San Diego County.

San Diego Humane Society has a mission to have lifesaving programs that lead the way nationally in innovation, impact, and effectiveness. They inspire compassion for all animals — companion and wild — in San Diego County and beyond. San Diego Humane Society is a leader in providing innovative services, ensuring that no healthy or treatable animals are at risk of euthanasia in San Diego County.

She deserves to live the rest of her life in peace, in a sanctuary. Help us rescue Fah Mui, give her the medical treatment she needs, and give her a home where she can roam freely. 44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Providing food, vaccinations, bedding, and enrichment for cats is a costly endeavor for animal shelters across the country. Due to the high cost of these basic necessities, shelters often have to limit the number of cats that they can save and provide homes for. A soft bed and a full belly can go a long way for the well-being of shelter cats. Your clicks alone can provide bowls of cat food, warm beds, and vaccinations for shelter cats in need!

Help Shelter Dogs Escape the Heat: Completed August 3, 2018

45,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Currently, the Rescate Fenix shelter in Sonora, Mexico has to keep their rescued dogs outside. There is no paved or shaded area, so the dogs must either sit or lay on dirt ground, with neither sun nor rain protection. Summer temperatures can reach 115 degrees, and during the rainy season, mud and wetness increase skin problems and medical issues in a cycle of misery. To protect these poor dogs from extreme weather, to allow their skin ailments to heal, and to provide both desperately needed comfort and enrichment, Rescate Fenix is hoping to construct Salas, shade structures elevated from the ground. Please click today to help build these structures, and give better lives to these dogs!
