Provide Comfort and Enrichment Toys to 32 Cats Escaping Cruelty

FUNDED March 7 2018 – Thank You!

The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) regularly rescues a large number of cats from hoarding situations. Often times, these cats live in overpopulated, unsanitary conditions which result in respiratory infections and other medical issues. Most have not been exposed to the outside world nor have had much contact from the person responsible for their care.

In many ways these cats act “feral”, yet they are usually indoor/outdoor or indoor only felines. Cats that come from these homes can’t live in a cage or at PSPCA’s shelter. They can’t be simply released into a community colony or barn staff that care for them – they feel trapped, scared, and stressed in cages. Most of these rescued cats are extremely difficult to adopt and their time at the shelter is often months to years. Furthermore, there are more cats being rescued than being placed into homes and PSPCA operates under a no-kill philosophy.

PSPCA’s working cat program is designed specifically for cats rescued from cruelty and prepares them for alternative home placements. They are determined to construct an indoor/outdoor living space for the cats, which will provide a safe, low-stress environment that teaches cats how to respond appropriately to weather in all seasons, while incorporating enrichment and living comforts. This kind of housing will let cats learn and exhibit normal behaviors, allow for safe care, and decrease the frequency of staff injuries. Additionally, it will create an environment for behavior work and assessments to help these cats while they patiently wait for the type of home they need and deserve!

You can help! Your clicks today will help give cats who were victims of cruelty a home.

Help Fight Blindness in India: Completed June 20, 2018

43,200 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

For people living in poverty in developing countries, curable blindness is a real thing that affects entire lives. Afflicted children are often left at home from school, or wind up begging in the streets. Healthy children may be pressed into regular service to help their affected elders, rather than going to school. That’s not to mention difficulty finding or holding jobs and performing necessary everyday tasks. But this blindness is treatable; no one should have to live this way. Please click today to help provide vision-saving procedures for people with curable blindness!

Provide 6 Street Houses for Abandoned Dogs and Cats: Completed June 18, 2018

60,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Vulnerable populations are the first to suffer in times of conflict and upheaval. In Pancevo, Serbia, when war and troubled political times disrupted living standards for its population, people no longer able to care for their pets turned them onto the streets to fend for themselves as best they could. But domesticated pets are no match for mean and crowded streets, and there are no humane laws or funding in Serbia to protect them. One unique solution is a “One House Saves A Life” system of placing houses for street animals and organizing feeding stations around the city. Please click today to provide shelter and safety for pets living on the streets!

Fund 11 Days of Research to Protect River Otters: Completed June 15, 2018

44,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Mesa Tres Ríos is a remote, wild area where neotropical river otters, black bears, mountain lions, and endangered thick-billed parrots live. Unfortunately, this ecosystem in Mexico is unstudied and undocumented, endangering the land and species that exist there. In August of 2018, a group of over 50 biologists from Mexico and the United States will visit the Mesa Tres Ríos on a groundbreaking expedition to collect a biological inventory of this unstudied location. Please click today to help these scientists gather crucial records to protect species like the river otter!

Save Thousands of Shelter Pets at Ruff Start Rescue: Completed June 11, 2018

66,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

With over 600 volunteers and 300 fosters in their network, Ruff Start Rescue is rescuing hundreds of animals at any given time. But more can be done. According to the rescue: “Because we don’t have a shelter, we can only take a new animal when we have a vacant foster home for pets to live in while they await their forever home.” That’s where Rescue Rebuild comes in. Ruff Start Rescue has been able to secure a small facility to take in a few dogs and cats, but we need your help to transform the building into a world-class shelter where rescued adoptable pets can wait to be placed in foster to be adopted. Please click today to help make this shelter dream a reality, and save hundreds of shelter pets’ lives every year.

Help 15 Veterans Restore Coral Reefs: Completed June 8, 2018

45,000 daily clicks funded this project – thank you!

Force Blue is deploying its team of veteran Special Operations Forces divers to restore coral reefs in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. These SOF veterans are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with an incredible amount of pain and trauma, made worse by a feeling of “separation from service” and the lack of a positive mission going forward. In fact, every year an estimated 8,000 veterans commit suicide.

By training SOF veterans to restore coral reefs damaged by the Hurricanes, Force Blue seeks to address two seemingly unrelated problems — the devastation of the Caribbean’s marine resources, and the difficulty returning combat veterans have in adjusting to civilian life. Please click today to help us realize these two critical missions!
