Artist Tattoos Realistic Nipples On Breast Cancer Survivors Post-Mastectomy

Kara Gutierrez owns Spot On Beauty in Missouri, where she specializes in permanent cosmetics. While she gives people permanent makeup, eyebrows, and more, she has most recently began restoring confidence for breast cancer survivors by bringing some normalcy back into their lives.

The medical tattoo artist recreates nipples for survivors who endured mastectomies and breast reconstruction, which consists of areola removal. Gutierrez tattoos 3D areolas on these women, and it's hard to tell that they aren't real.

For many years, Gutierrez has been perfecting her craft and has extensive knowledge of color theory and tattooing scars. Since she began, Gutierrez has tattooed areolas on nearly 2,000 women.

Once these breast cancer survivors are healed from their surgeries, they want to feel like a woman again, and these hyper-realistic areola tattoos are helping them feel just that.

"After they are healed, I love the texts that I get, they say I looked at myself normal and forgot I had breast cancer," Gutierrez told Fox 4 KC. "I feel like I’m right there with them and I’m complete and I’m riding the energy wave with them all the way through."

Gutierrez isn't the only tattoo artist out there who does this kind of tattooing, but she says to be careful and do your research for quality work, since it is permanent.

Gutierrez has a Facebook page, where you can see all of her past work. Click here to visit her page, and watch her story in the video below:
