Two 81-Year-Old Women Are Traveling The World In 80 Days
Who said growing old has to be boring?
Two 81-year-old friends, Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby, have decided to use their golden years to go on the adventure of a lifetime. They're planning to travel the world in just 80 days!
According to CBS Mornings, the two friends met over 20 years ago while working in Africa. While they've traveled extensively together through China, Russia, and other places, this is their first attempt at hitting all seven continents together.
The trip was inspired by the 1873 novel, Around the World in 80 Days.
The two initially planned to travel the world in 80 days at the age of 80, but their plans were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they didn't let the global lockdowns spoil their plans - they simply postponed the trip, and now, at the age of 81, both ladies are off on the adventure of al lifetime.
According to CBS Mornings, their 80-day trip includes stepping foot on all seven continents, visiting nine Wonders of the World, and going through 18 countries. Despite both women having had knee replacement surgeries, they're doing plenty of walking and exploring!
Speaking with CBS Mornigns, Hazelip said: "Don't sit in that chair and waste away. If you don't use it, you lose it."
