84-Year-Old Widowed Grandma Is Determined To Get Her GED
Some people feel that going after your dreams when you are in your golden years is a waste of time. They feel that it is a time to reflect on the past, rather than reaching out to the future.
Then again, someone must have forgotten to tell that to Shirley Jones. She is 84 years young and nothing is going to stop her from fulfilling a dream she has had for years.
Pitt Community College shared on Facebook that, Jones lives in North Carolina and she recently became a widow. She then found herself in a unique circumstance of having time on her hands, so she decided to do something with it.
She enrolled in Pitt Community College with the goal of earning her GED. It just goes to prove that you are never too old to go after your dreams.
Jones has lived in Greenville, NC since she was born. She has two daughters and a grandchild, and she is about to get her GED.
When she entered college, she received the honor of being inducted into the National Adult Honors Society through Transitional Studies.
In its Facebook post, Pitt Community College said that she loves how nice the students are. She also gave credit to her teacher, Mr. Mizelle, and coordinator, Sissy Grubbs, for her success.
They went on to congratulate her for her "incredible achievement." We wholeheartedly agree.
I love to write and it keeps me busy. I've been working online, full time since 1999. When you can't find me at the keyboard, you'll find me getting as much as I can out of life. I enjoy living simply, playing games, visiting the beach, and spending time with my family.
