Anonymous Man From Pakistan Walks Into Turkish Embassy And Donates $30 Million To Earthquake Victims

Since the devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Syria in early February, news has been coming from the region regarding the situation and it's been largely bleak - until now.

According to CNN, the earthquake destroyed critical infrastructure across Turkey and Syria and more than 36,000 people have been killed in the devastation, plus thousands more injured.

People, organizations, and governments around the world are turning an eye to the Kahramanmaras earthquake, recognizing that the region needs aid and resources or things will get much worse before they get better.

Incredibly, it seems that an individual took it upon himself to play a massive role in the rescue efforts. Donating under an anonymous name, a Pakistani man living in the United States walked into the Turkish Embassy and donated $30 million.

Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's Prime Minister, tweeted about the kind deed, writing:

"Deeply moved by the example of an anonymous Pakistani who walked into Turkish embassy in the US & donated $30 million for earthquake victims in Türkiye & Syria. These are such glorious acts of philanthropy that enable humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds."

Mustafa Tanyeri, the editor-in-chief of the political news outlet The Election Post, also confirmed the news, tweeting that Turkey’s ambassador to Washington, Murat Mercan, confirmed the $30 million contribution to the earthquake aid campaign launched in the US.

"My eyes are watering right now," he said in the tweet (translated).

We'd like to think that every single dollar helps when it comes to matters like this, but a donation of $30 million can really swing the pendulum in the right direction.
