The Story of Bessy's Sad Search for a Forever Home

Hello, my name is Bessy. I am a very pretty spayed female that's an interesting mix of yellow and white Australian Kelpie and American Staffordshire Terrier. If you're unfamiliar with my breed mixture, a Kelpie is a medium-sized sheepdog capable of mustering and droving livestock — primarily sheep, cattle, and goats — with little or no guidance. That makes me pretty darn smart!

Looking for Love

But as clever as I am, my heart is broken, and I've been left confused as to why nobody wants me. I have been at Pinal County Animal Care and Control since December 11, 2020. At this point, that's two whole years without a forever home. In case you're wondering, Pinal County is in central Arizona east-southeast of Phoenix.

And if you are, perhaps that bodes well for me because maybe you're thinking about how cute I am and whether or not I could be your new best friend. The answer is I could, if you'll give me a chance.

Second Chances

This is my story. It's kind of sad but not really all that unusual. You see, I was brought in with my siblings two years ago after our human passed away. Staff at PCACC think I'm about 6 years old now, so I was about 4 when our world came crashing down around us. It was a very sad day, and we were all left devastated.

Fortunately, my siblings quickly found homes, but for some reason, I keep getting overlooked again and again! I'm so happy for them, because they had less time to spend being sad that our human was gone and afraid because of the uncertainty their passing left us with.

Fostering Pets

The one good thing I can say is that at least I'm in a stable foster situation while my future is sorted out. The problem is it's not a forever home, and I know that. Believe it or not, things like this can weigh heavily on a dog's mind. We're pretty simple creatures whose lives revolve around love and trust, and we thrive on continuity.
