Florida is starting on the long road to recovery from not one but two intense hurricanes that came ashore just a week apart. Helene and Milton caused massive damage and devastation that left countless people and pets homeless, including two bonded senior dogs.

Rocky and Bandit survived Milton along with their owner, but the trailer that they lived in was destroyed.

The dogs were forced to live for a short time in a car with their owner before he needed to be hospitalized. His main concern was for his beloved dogs, so he contacted Humane Society of Tampa Bay for help.

The shelter wrote, "Our rescue team quickly stepped in and brought Rocky and Bandit to safety. Now, these sweet seniors are searching for a loving forever home where they can stay together. They’ve been through the storm—literally—and are ready to enjoy their golden years with a family who will love them unconditionally."

Many concerned followers asked if the owner was able to get the dogs back after he recovered. The shelter shared that he is no longer physically able to care for the dogs and wants them to have the best life.

The post was shared by hundreds and Rocky and Bandit quickly found a new loving home.

The shelter has helped reunite lost pets with their families and has taken in countless strays. Meet all the adoptable pets here

It will take months and even years to rebuild what the hurricanes destroyed. People and pets impacted by Helene and Milton still need our support.

Your generous donations have already provided much-needed pet food and essential supplies, which were quickly distributed to those in need. Donate now to help feed more shelter and displaced pets.
