To the rescue insiders, all of their cats and kittens are beautiful! Then there are those that are gorgeous to all walks of life and indeed look like they fit the bill for internet stardom! Meet Celie. She is one of those stunning-looking cats that makes it seem impossible for her to not have been gathered into arms for a lifetime of love! However, she has been welcomed into an adoptive home, only to be returned for sticking up for herself.

Celie's journey with The Cat House on the Kings began when she was brought in separately from her kittens, but thankfully they were reunited so that she could complete her conscientious care they needed to grow into adoptable kittens. Her oh-too-cute kittens have of course been happily adopted.

After being with us for a few months, she too was adopted. However, after only a month, she was returned for not integrating into the household and for behavior that can occur when further veterinarian care can be needed.

All of our cats and kittens do receive all that they need to go up for adoption, but just like humans, they can develop further medical needs. This is all too true for cats that have had to struggle to survive on the streets without proper care, nutrition, and shelter. She was immediately taken to the vet, where it was discovered that she had a UTI. We can go into a long explanation of why it is important to make sure that cats can comfortably use a litter box with confidence and a feeling of safety, as it can affect their health.

Celie recovered from the UTI and upon recheck, it was determined that she would greatly benefit from having dental surgery. In April, she underwent the dental surgery and had all of her teeth removed except for her canines. She championed that recovery as well, and after a month to recover, she went back on the adoption circuit!

Now imagine trying to adapt to different locations, different habitats, different roommates, different caretakers. Born in 2020, Celie is now 5 years old and she has encountered and endured a lot in those five years. She always grooms herself to look her best as if she knows she is a looker. She provided excellent motherhood care for her kittens. She has patiently been a patient several times!

She needs someone to give her the living space she needs, which is not just physical dimensions, along with the love of her personality. It can be so easy to fall in love, but will that love last through all of life's ups and downs? Celie needs her adoptive guardian angel, because to all of us who love her, she is an angel!

Here's Celie's adoption profile:

Celie has an unbelievably sweet personality and is a perfect fit for anyone looking for a lap cat. She is very friendly and often seeks out pets from anyone in the house. Unlike most cats, Celie enjoys belly rubs and will request them by flopping down in front of you. She is also talkative and will let you know when she wants your attention or a little extra wet food.

You can typically find her cuddled up in a cat tree or on the sofa, whichever gets the most sun. She enjoys being brushed each day, and crunchy treats are her favorite. She’s an old soul so she doesn’t play much, but catnip mice are her go-to when her kittens or caretakers encourage her to play. Although she's a recent mom, Celie is relatively independent. She gets along well with other cats and is respectful of their space after a brief adjustment period, but she is not a fan of dogs.

Celie has had full blood work done, as well as a dental where several teeth were removed and she now only has canines. She can eat both soft and dry food just fine.
