Abandoned Dog Rescued With Swollen Head Searches For New Forever Home

A volunteer with Bakersfield Strays regularly posts about the dogs they rescue and work with.

While driving around one day in an area that's known to have stray dogs, the volunteer spotted a dog that really caught her eye.

His face was so swollen that she knew something was wrong. Thankfully, she was able to catch him and get him the veterinary care he needed, and she shared about the rescue on TikTok.

"Chunk had an embedded collar or chain that caused his face to swell," the volunteer explained in the comments.

Thankfully, he was able to recover from the collar and his face returned to a normal size and shape. Bakersfield Strays is now working to find Chunk a loving forever home.

Sadly, despite receiving more than 5 million views on TikTok, Chunk only received a measly 3 applications from interested parties.

The rescue posted on Facebook, "Chunk the Hunk - He went viral 5 MILLION views on TikTok and has less than 5 adoption applications. We do review each application because we want our dogs to go to homes that will be compatible."

"Chunk would be a great only dog. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He has been trained by Humble K9. He is a couch potato and does great on a treadmill lol. Please apply @ www.Bakersfieldstrays.org," they added.

A volunteer with the rescue, Yesina, shared on Instagram that of the three applications they received, the applicants either didn't respond or weren't a good fit.

Hopefully he finds the perfect home soon!
