Dairy Cow Hides Her Baby In The Grass So He's Not Taken From Her Again
Life can be difficult when you're a cow. You are basically at the farmer's whim, and anything they say goes. Nobody knows this better than Clarabelle.
Like many cows, she would regularly have calves, but every time she would give birth, the little one would be taken away from her so it couldn't drink her milk. She was a good mother and was confused over this, so she decided to do something about it.
When Clarabelle became pregnant again, she decided that she would protect the calf, regardless of what happened. She also had a plan on how to do it.
If you were to ask any mother how defensive they would be of their children, they would tell you that they would fight for them until their last breath. It seemed as if Clarabelle felt similarly. According to The Dodo, she was rescued as a dairy cow and brought to Edgar's Mission. It was there that she realized that everything would be okay, but it did take some time.
Edgar's Mission is in Australia and is 153 acres of beautiful land. Many rescue animals call it home, and they have the opportunity to live their lives in peace and tranquility.
This was also true of Clarabelle, but she was still afraid that someone was going to take her little ones. That is why she decided to hide her calf in a different place daily.
It isn't just this that makes it such a sad story. She was actually only hours from being put down after not producing enough milk to be profitable. Volunteers were able to rescue her and bring her to the farm.
Things started happening about a week before Clara Bell gave birth at Edgar's Mission. She usually enjoyed meal time, but on that day, she stayed in the background and walked around. She seemed to be stressed out.
Accoding to The Dodo, staff looked into it and felt that she might be hiding something, so they searched. They didn't see anything at first, but after looking for a while, they found the little calf hidden under some tall grass.
It also appeared as if Clarabelle had been caring for the baby and hiding her so nobody would find her. She may have given birth a few days previous.
It's interesting that she would consider those past experiences and do what she could to help the little one have a fighting chance. If you would like to see more of this beautiful mama and her calf, you can see it in this video:
