Woman Who Lost Her Wallet At A School Dance In 1968 Finally Sees It Again 55 Years Later
Losing a wallet is devastating. Either you miraculously find it again, or someone else finds it and either keeps it or surrenders it to the authorities for proper handling.
Sadly, more often than not, people succumb to the sin of greed.
However, there are still righteous souls out there that do the right thing and return lost things to their proper owners.
Even if it’s over 50 years later.
Sharon Day lost her wallet at a Fayetteville High School dance around 55 years ago, when she was just 16. It’s safe to say that she must’ve forgotten about it and had no hopes of finding it again.
The school closed in 2019. You may think that this is the final nail in the coffin for Sharon’s wallet, but no. Luckily for Sharon, her long-lost wallet was finally found by workers when the school was being renovated to become apartments.
The workers from a contracting company said that Sharon’s wallet, along with many other items, fell out of some bolted ductwork.
"There was some old admission tickets to a boxing match and some other things that all fell out of there when we broke that loose and opened it up for the first time in 100 years," Bradley Scott, owner of the contracting company, said.
What an unexpected time capsule!
Scott added that the discovery felt special, “Like this is something that we can identify as the personal property of someone that might very well still live in this area and with all the wallet photos and names of the back of wallet photos, with a social security card in it, it was like, ‘Well, I think we can actually find this person.’”
And found her they did! Sharon’s sister found Scott’s post on Facebook and informed her about it.
“She said they found something for you. I didn’t ever think about having something like that 54 years from when I had it… It’s something that I never thought I would see or know what was going on about it,” Sharon said.
Sharon plans on putting it all together in a scrapbook, hoping that the contents of her wallet survive for another 50 years and more.
