11-Year-Old Girl Opens Lemonade Stand To Save Dogs
Opening a lemonade stand is a right of passage for many youngsters. We often do it to fill the time during summer vacation and to make a few extra dollars.
Delanie is an 11-year-old girl who lives in Tampa, Florida and she has been running a lemonade stand since she was seven. She does so inside her parent's restaurant, and it works well.
According to Good Morning America, Andy Dennis, her father, said she originated the idea and decided when she made money, she would donate it to local animal shelters.
Her father said she could try and since then, she has been running Delanie's Lemonade Stand, now Cafe Delanie.
She doesn't get any help running the stand and when the month ends, she collects her money and takes it to a local shelter. Sometimes, another animal rescue organization is selected to receive the donation.
When this youngster is not running her lemonade stand, she volunteers at an animal rescue. She even has a pet donkey at the rescue, Burrito, who you can occasionally see on her business Facebook page:
This is not just a tiny driveway venture. In the past five years, she has made over $61,000 and given it all to help animals.
Her mother, Julie, spoke with GMA about how inspiring it was to see someone her age have a passion for people and animals.
Delanie feels that every animal has a perfect home somewhere. When somebody buys lemonade from her, she is thankful because the dollar they spend goes to animals she loves.
Because of her passion for animals, she has been named Kid of the Year by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 2022.
The Veterinary Emergency Group also gave her a $2500 donation when she appeared on Good Morning America.
The money she received from The Veterinary Emergency Group is slated to be donated to a mastiff rescue, Mastino Rescue.
It's amazing when someone puts their mind and heart and something and achieves their dreams.
