Stray Dog Finally Tastes Freedom After Dragging Around Heavy Chain
If there is one thing that dogs have in common, it's the fact that they enjoy playing. Given the opportunity, they will play most of the day and the only thing they seem to like better is taking a nap when they are finished.
Unfortunately, not all dogs have that opportunity, and such was the case with a dog in St. Louis. In fact, the previous owners abandoned him and they didn't even untie him from the chain that was holding him down.
When Stray Rescue of St. Louis found the dog hiding under a car, they knew that they had to do something to help. She was so weighed down that she couldn't even hold her head up properly.
The rescuers tried to lure the dog out from underneath the car with some food. When she eventually started to come out, they realized why she was having trouble. The chain she was dragging around was scraping the ground and keeping her from moving properly.
The rescue shared on YouTube that it took a little time for the rescuers to gain the trust of the dog, but she certainly was hungry. They continued to put food closer and closer to them and were hoping that, eventually, she would become comfortable.
Eventually, they were able to grab the chain and take the dog to their vehicle. When they felt how much the chain actually weighed, they realized that the dog was really suffering.
Rescuers were quick to help the dog when she arrived at the shelter. Although she was a 31-pound dog, she had been dragging the chain around, and it weighed 10 pounds. They named the dog Fallon Marie.
Marie was a very affectionate dog, and she quickly got comfortable with her rescuers. It was almost as if she knew that her struggle was over and she was now safe.
