Dog Leads Rescuers To Remote Turkish Village In Need of Earthquake Relief
A heroic dog saved the day when a truck filled with disaster relief supplies got lost in the Turkish mountains. The truck was attempting to bring aid to a remote village destroyed by the recent earthquake, but they couldn't find their way.
According to CNN, the earthquake resulted in the deaths of 36,000 people and counting, along with thousands more injured and a devastating loss of infrastructure.
While the main rescue and relief efforts have been focused on the larger urban areas, remote villages throughout Turkey and Syria have also been heavily impacted, including the village of Ayanburnu.
According to a local news outlet, the dog saw the aid convoy in Kahramanmaraş and managed to get their attention.
Per the outlet, the driver said (translated), "When we couldn't find the way, we started to follow the dog. He brought us to the village."
The dog led the rescue truck through the mountains to the village and didn't stop until the crew had safely made it to deliver aid.
A video of the dog leading the truck through the mountains was shared online and it's since gone viral.
