Woman Goes Viral For Adapting Her Yard For Her Dwarf Cat

Cats can be pretty low-maintenance pets, but they can also take a lot of effort and work! When you have a special-needs cat, things can become pretty complicated pretty quickly.

Sadly, many cats with special needs are euthanized in shelters or at vets' offices. That's why it's always amazing to see someone going out of their way to accommodate a cat who might not be able to live like other cats.

That was seen recently when a woman went viral for adapting her backyard to better accommodate her dwarf cat, Fig.

Fig's little legs can't jump or run very well, so her owner ensured the cat had plenty of ladders and walkways to use. It's so sweet!

"Adpating the garden for a smol cat," she captioned the post.

Since being shared on TikTok, the video received over 2.7 million views and counting!

In an interview with GeoBeats Animals, Fig's owner shared that she adopted her two cats, Dante and Fig, from the charity Cats Protection in the U.K. after they were found as strays.

When the charity realized that Fig wasn't growing, they suspected she had dwarfism. The woman still wanted to adopt her though! At her full adult weight, little Fig weighs just 3.5 pounds.

Dwarfism in cats is quite rare. Some people even had trouble believing a snaggle-toothed dwarf cat was real! Because of that, Fig's owner couldn't find much information on possible health conditions or issues that could arise down the road.

Unfortunately, Fig's health issues associated with her dwarfism surfaced fast. Little Fig likely won't live a long life. She's on pain medication and other medication for her conditions.

Fig's owner is dedicated to keeping her comfortable and giving her the best life possible, and there's something beautiful to be said about that.
