Update: Convict improves each day but still has a long road to recovery. He continues to receive pain meds and antibiotics while ice boots, and cloud boots are used to help him stand and move with less pain. His vet is keeping a close eye on his kidneys through ultrasounds and continues to perform radiographs of his feet.

They are hopeful that he will recover. Thank you for your support which helped Convict get the care he needed to survive and thrive. Read his full story below.

Meet Convict.

The nine-year-old American Saddlebred horse was surrendered in critical condition to Leap of Faith Equine Rescue and Sanctuary after being passed between two horse traders in one month.

The stress took a toll on his body and left him in urgent need of medical care.

Convict arrived at a veterinary clinic in extreme pain suffering from colitis, kidney complications, and painful inflammation in his hooves (laminitis) that made it difficult for him to stand or walk.

He was immediately started on IV fluids, pain medication, antibiotics, and ice boots to help reduce the inflammation in his hooves.

He is receiving round-the-clock care and repeated X-rays to monitor his condition. The vet bills are adding up quickly and the rescue needs your support to cover his medical care.

He has a long road to recovery ahead that will involve orthopedic farrier work including supportive shoes for his hooves and ongoing medication for his best chance at walking again. He will also need to remain at the hospital on medical board until he is sound enough to be transported back to the rescue.
