Cats and Dogs Rescued from Overcrowded Shelters in LA County Safely Land in Pacific Northwest
Andrea Powell
Thanks to your generous support, an emergency Flight to Freedom rescued 47 cats and 28 dogs from overcrowded LA County shelters and flew them to new shelters in the Pacific Northwest.

These animals were at risk due to lack of space, resources, and adopters but will now get the second chance they deserve to find a loving home. Your donations are saving lives, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support.

On March 19 the animals were carefully loaded on the plane and arrived at their new destinations where they were greeted by smiling faces. Each cat and dog are now settling in at their new shelter getting ready to meet adopters in the coming days.

Resilient dogs like Alvin and Loki who have been through a lot but are facing it all with a wagging tail and positive attitude. Alvin's previous shelter shared, "He enjoys connection and is comfortable settling in once he feels safe. He would do well in a home that appreciates a steady, approachable companion—one that can match his balance of curiosity and calm."

Loki is a little more reserved and takes some time to warm up to people and other dogs. His caretakers said, "Loki would do best in a home that respects his balanced approach—one that offers a calm, gentle environment where he can build confidence and feel secure. A more easygoing setting, with thoughtful introductions and space to decompress, will help him adjust and thrive. Dogs like Loki remind us that not every connection has to be immediate. With the right environment, they find their rhythm—observing, adapting, and engaging in ways that feel right to them."

Overcrowded is becoming the new normal at many animal shelters. Highly adoptable dogs and cats are at risk and need our support to get the second chance they deserve. Donate today to help fly more shelter pets to freedom on our upcoming flight.
