Exterminator Responds To Call For Woodpecker But Finds Something Else Hiding In The Walls

In all his years as an exterminator, Nick Castro has never seen something quite like this before.

Castro owns Nick's Extreme Pest Control in California and he regularly responds to calls regarding various pests that people deal with in their homes.

During a recent call regarding woodpecker concerns, however, he was thrown a massive curveball when he got a look inside the wall of the home and discovered hundreds of pounds worth of acorns.

Apparently, the woodpecker and been storing his acorns in the wall for quite some time. Nick posted about the discovery on Facebook, saying that the bird "was a bit of a hoarder," and managed to put 8 garbage bags full of acorns in the walls.

In total, the acorns he removed from the home weighed some 700 pounds! "Unreal never came across something like this," he added.

In the comments of the post, Nick explained that the woodpecker "Completely destroyed [the] exterior of [the] house with all the holes everywhere...This bird was crazy."

He added that the homeowners suspected there was an issue when they noticed "little worms coming out of the wall that looked like maggots." The worms ended up being a type of mealworm.

Talk about living in a nut house!
