Father and Daughter Enjoyed a Wedding Dance with a Twist, Hyped the Guests, and Amused the Internet

Children build separate bonds with their mother and father — sharing different interests with both of them. Sometimes one child will be closer to their father while others will be more connected with their mom. But the love for both of them exists, creating a strong family bond. It’s nice to have a parent and a best friend in one person. The house feels much homier when you have someone you can freely talk to without being judged. You can joke with them, enjoy game nights, take trips, and do anything fun under the sun. Also, as your best friend, they held you accountable for your mistakes — not to condemn you but to ensure that you make the right decisions.

For this reason, weddings are a bittersweet moment for parents. They are undoubtedly happy about the new milestone their child is about to accomplish, but letting go is also saddening. This is mainly an emotional moment for fathers who cherished their little princesses up until they became queens on their own. That’s why dads are often on full alert whenever their girls introduce a potential husband. They’d stay alert until they could fully trust the guy. Fathers become more sentimental when they walk their daughter down the aisle and pass her to the groom.

Aside from that, it’s customary for the father and the bride to share a dance during the wedding reception. The moment is indeed heartfelt and anticipated by the guests — it’s truly a sentimental touch to the event. This part of the reception is usually accompanied by slow songs and mellow instruments that make the moment more moving. Every wedding has its version of a father and bride dance. For Nancy and her dad, why be serious when you can have fun at a celebration?

Nancy Krieger’s wedding became a viral video on the internet due to the twist. Instead of only sharing a sweet, slow dance, she and her dad raised the roof that day! The guests were surprised by the sudden change in beat as Nancy started to do some moves. At first, the dad seemed surprised, but a few seconds later, he eventually followed his daughter’s dance steps. According to Nancy, “I’m an only child, and my dad and I are super close. So when we were, like, deciding on like what dances we were going to do, we were like, there’s no way that we can do just like a slow song because we’re just going to cry the entire time.”

That’s when her dad, Ronald Lestock, suggested doing something different. Both planned the special moment and even picked songs together, which were mashed up by their DJ. They learned the choreography for their father-and-daughter dance for over eight months. “I have no moves. You know, this is the move I have. I had the YMCA,” Ronald said during their interview with Good Morning America. “She came up with all of them,” he added. Anyone can certainly feel the exceptional bond between Nancy and her father. She also mentioned that he wasn’t only a parent to her but also her go-to person.

“We are really very tight. I don’t know if it’s because she’s an only child, but I had a lot of time to focus just on her. I’ve often heard, you can’t be a friend. You need to be a parent. But I think you can be both,” Ronald lovingly said. The dance became even more remarkable because they showed their adorable relationship. They have amused their guests and the people on the internet. Nancy is indeed blessed to have a father like Ronald — which a lot of people wish to have. For them, the wedding was never about a child getting separated from her parents but a celebration. No matter where life takes Nancy, she will always be her father’s best friend.

I strive to learn and excel more in content creation, including blog writing, graphic design, social media posts, and video editing. Photography is one of those skills that I take an interest in. However, I do not use my photography skills for work as I treat the activity as my hobby. My usual subjects are my pets and loved ones. The lovely fur babies at home make photography even more fun, especially now that I am in a remote setup for work.
