A Momma Duck Takes Her Fifty-Six Ducklings for a Swim in Minnesota Lake
Going out in nature can take you to various experiences that will make you fall in love with it over and over. You’ll see that the world has so much to offer, and you’ll be missing a lot if you don’t go out once in a while. Animals are one of the greatest factors for why nature can be astounding. Encountering them in their natural habitat is truly different from watching those moments on a device screen. Also, animals living their daily lives aren’t only mesmerizing — encountering them can be fun, inspiring, touching, and surprising. You’ll never know what waits for you during nature trips. So better bring a camera or a smartphone to capture anything that fascinates you. Immortalize the moment that has made you see the world’s beauty even more.
For this reason, many people aspire to be wildlife photographers. The camera lens has helped them capture the most stunning photos of animals in the wild. They have also shared the most heartwarming and adorable family photos, like a momma duck with her fifty-six ducklings. The video was shared by wildlife photographer Brent Cizek after his nature trip to the northern Minnesota lakes. It was his initial plan to take photos of intimate moments between animals in their natural habitat. The momma duck with fifty-six ducklings following her came as a surprise to him. Brent never thought that the intimate moment he’d find would be a lot of delightful ducklings.
Before discovering the family of ducks, Brent had a tough time finding the right angle. It was a particularly windy day, which rocked his boat, making it difficult to capture photos at the angle he wanted. Nevertheless, he continued and decided to stop by the shoreline. That’s when he saw the momma duck and her ducklings. It started with a few of them, until more little feathered friends joined the group. He saw fifty-six of them swimming and following the lead of their matriarch. Brent was so astounded that he shared a still image of the moment on social media. The photo was well-received online and quickly went viral. He also uploaded a video on Youtube.
In the video, you’ll see that the ducklings were more than fifty-six — the momma duck was with 70-plus more. Brent concluded that the ducklings were from different families, which was explained by a netizen from the Youtube comment section. “This is a fairly common phenomenon exhibited by some water fowl species. Most often, it occurs within a related family, whereby a single dominant female will take on the responsibility of providing guidance and upbringing for the brood of related sisters, cousins, daughters. The aggregation is called a crèche,” frabjousfrank explained.
Turns out it was a daycare for ducks! Watch the video below and witness the endearing duckling daycare — a moment that will probably make you smile today.

I strive to learn and excel more in content creation, including blog writing, graphic design, social media posts, and video editing. Photography is one of those skills that I take an interest in. However, I do not use my photography skills for work as I treat the activity as my hobby. My usual subjects are my pets and loved ones. The lovely fur babies at home make photography even more fun, especially now that I am in a remote setup for work.
