Sweet Senior Rescue Dog Can't Seem to Find His Forever Golden Years Home
It's tough being a senior, especially if you find yourself homeless. Just ask Hurricane, an approximately 10-year-old pibble mix waiting to be rescued in Tucson, Arizona.
While Tucson has plenty of monsoon storms, they don't typically get a lot of hurricanes - but here they are with one in their midst! And while he may have a whirling dervish of a name, this senior fella is more like a gentle breeze - calm, mellow, and easygoing.
Hurricane has returned to the shelter after a much-needed three-month foster break. He was a total gentleman while in his foster home where he was described as very housebroken, well-behaved even when left alone, and a smarty pants who knows sit, stay, and wait. He's also comfortable being in a crate.
Ironically, however, he'd prefer not to go outside in the rain. He loves food, and his foster said that he gets playful just before dinner time but is otherwise very mellow. They added, "Hurricane will be happy in a quiet place with a comfy spot to lay on. He enjoys a morning walk, and that's enough for him!"
Hurricane has been a volunteer favorite for a long time now. Here's what a couple of his shelter pals had to say:
"Hurricane is a darling senior who is a total pleasure to spend time with. He's housebroken and will take care of business right away, then walks very gently and easily to the park as he loves to roll in the grass and get belly rubs. This boy is a sweet, deserving senior who has been nothing but lovely to spend time with. He really needs to get out of the shelter and into a soft landing place."
"Hurricane and I had a very good walk today. He was very calm and walked right next to me. As other dogs approached he was not too concerned about them and continued on the walk nicely. He was very receptive to stopping occasionally for some one-on-one time and affection. After the walk, he took his treats in his kennel very gently. He is a loving dog that only needs a loving family to care for him."
A neutered male weighing approximately 60 pounds, Hurricane's been at the Pima Animal Care Center since April 24, 2022, and is soooo ready to go home. If you're interested in adopting or fostering him, please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov for an application or for additional questions. He's in Kennel D207, and his ID# is A775909.
Hurricane needs to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it's a good fit or he could thrive as your one and only. If you're looking to change up the weather patterns in your life, Hurricane is your man!
