Your Kindness Helped Bring This Neglected Horse Back to Life
Andrea Powell
Every year, roughly 200,000 horses become "unwanted" and in need of rescue with over half in poor health or low body condition, like Joker.
The sweet gelding was severely malnourished with his hip bones and ribs visible after years of neglect. He arrived at Kentucky Humane Society in dire need of medical care.

For so long he had been forgotten, starving, and suffering from infections. Further tests revealed he has a condition (PPID) that requires medication to strengthen his immune system and give him a fighting chance at a healthy life.
Your generous support allowed the rescue to purchase the necessary medication, PRASCEND, that was given daily to help stabilize Joker's condition. The rescue shared, "Over time, caregivers observed increased alertness, improved body condition, and greater tolerance for routine care."

The aging horse regained weight and even found a loving home where he is a companion to another beloved horse. His eyes once showed despair—now they shine with hope. He is living out his retirement on green pastures, as all horses should.
Thank you for helping Joker and countless other neglected and injured horses get the care they need to heal. There are sadly many more waiting for help. Donate today to change more lives.
