Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a relatively common disease in cats. While it’s possible to live for quite some time with the disease, it is contagious, which can make it hard to home cats who have it. Thanks in part to you, two cats with FeLV have a safe place to stay and healthy food in their bellies.

Tanner and Parker were shelter cats that staff were hoping to get into an adoption program or a program with a rescue partner. First, they’d have to get an FeLV test, though. Unfortunately, they tested positive.

Free to Live Animal Sanctuary says, “So Tanner and Parker were in grave danger of being euthanized unless a sanctuary type rescue could be found. That is when Free to Live was contacted. We had just the spot for them to live their lives out together. Often cats with feline leukemia can lead long, normal lives. As long as they are monitored by their caretakers!”

While the duo is doing okay, their illness has caused dental issues, meaning soft food is a necessity.  That’s where your support has come in.

One of the many things this program does is help deliver excess food from pet food suppliers to shelters in need, free of charge. This helps address food costs, which are substantial for rescues.
