Gordon Ramsay Encourages Sunscreen Use After Skin Cancer Diagnosis
Michelle Milliken
Gordon Ramsay is mostly known for his cooking recommendations, but he shared another important piece of advice over the Labor Day holiday: “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”
On Saturday, August 30, the celebrity chef and restauranteur shared on Instagram that he’d recently been diagnosed with skin cancer. The photos showed the results of a basal cell carcinoma removal. The first picture featured a large bandage running from the area in front of his ear down to the side of his neck. The other showed the scar the bandage was covering, which was about an inch long under his ear.
Ramsay, 58, joked, “I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund…”
He added that he’s appreciative of the quick work of the medical team at The Skin Associates who performed the surgery.
Ramsay, a father of six, has been gracing our televisions for well more than 20 years, with some of his most popular programs including “Hell’s Kitchen” and “MasterChef USA.” He’s also the founder of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, which has been awarded 17 Michelin stars overall.

According to the American Cancer Society, basal cell carcinoma is common and is almost always cured before it spreads to other parts of the body. It’s typically treated with surgery, though some patients will undergo radiation instead.
