New York Shelter Goes Viral For Their Brutally Honest Dog Ad
We have become accustomed to having animal shelters go viral for their excellent work. They take care of dogs that cannot be cared for otherwise, and they often find them forever homes.
Every once in a while, an animal shelter will go above and beyond and go viral for an even more interesting reason.
That was the case with the Niagara County SPCA, who did something unusual to find a forever home for Ralphie.
They posted an ad for Ralphie on Facebook, but it wasn't your typical ad. They called Ralphie a "whole jerk - not even half." That was only the beginning of it.
They describe 26-pound Ralphie as a dog who feels as if he is entitled to everything he wants. They call him a "firebreathing demon," and although they admit that he is adorable at first, they talk about him as a terror in a small package.
The ad starts: "Meet Ralphie. At first glance, he's an adorable, highly sought after, young dog. People should be banging down our doors for him. We promise you, that won't be the case."
They then call Ralphie a jerk and say that people should proceed at their own risk if they are interested in adopting him. They also noted that Ralphie's first owners let him rule the roost, but the relationship ended abruptly.
They said: "Two weeks into this new home and he was surrendered to us because [he] 'annoys our older dog'. What they actually meant was: Ralphie is a fire-breathing demon and will eat our dog, but hey, he's only 26 lbs."
As you can imagine, many people in contact with Ralphie have tried to hide his undesirable personality. That being said, he will be the perfect pet for the right family.
In the end, someone did step forward and adopt Ralphie. They gave him a forever home, but the SPCA said, "no takesy backsies."
