Horse Trapped in Deep Mud and Floodwater Frees Itself

Beaver, Utah, has slammed twice by disasters. First the Cottonwood wildfire, called one of the “most destructive fires” in the state’s history, destroyed 97,000 acres and countless homes.
Then a couple weeks later heavy rain on the scorched land resulted in flash flooding and immediate evacuation orders as possible “life-threatening” conditions would result with quickly rising water and some filled with debris.
One horse was captured on video shared by CBS News saving itself from floodwaters in the pasture. The horse was seen in neck-deep water trudging and swimming to get to higher ground.
Viewers watched with bated breath as the horse made its way through the water along the fence line and let out a sigh of relief when it made it to dry land covered in mud.
Horses are natural swimmers and can stay afloat by paddling their legs and thanks to their large lungs, for a short period of time. Just like all the others who watched the video, we are glad the horse is safe and feel for all the people and pets impacted by this back-to-back severe weather.
