Hundreds of Pets Lost During LA Fires Still Waiting to be Reunited with Their Families
Pasadena Humane has been helping lost, injured, and displaced animals since the catastrophic wildfires ignited over two weeks ago. They have taken in over 250 stray animals and recently shared that many are still waiting for their families.
Several arrived with severe burns and are being treated by the medical team in the shelter's ICU. With your continued support, Greater Good Charities is helping fund the medical care for the injured animals, like a badly burned husky.
This sweet boy is recovering from smoke inhalation and burns to his paws and body. He has been through "hell", as one person wrote, and needs to be reunited with his family.
The lost animals are mostly dogs and cats of all ages, but there is also a pot-bellied pig, several chickens, and a tortoise. The shelter is posting photos of the stray animals with descriptions as well as where they were found.
Just one look at their sad eyes will tell you these animals have been through a lot, and many are still healing from their wounds.
Thousands of people lost their homes and all their belongings. The shelter understands that people impacted by the fires will need some time to find a place to stay, so they are extending their stray hold.
They wrote, "Our stray hold has been extended to 21 days to allow those affected by the fire time to reclaim their lost pets. After 21 days, their stray hold is complete and, if not reclaimed, can be made available for adoption."
The shelter is asking everyone to share the post about the lost animals that are still looking for their loved ones. All of the stray/lost animals at the shelter can be found here. If you see your lost pet, stop by Pasadena Humane between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to be reunited with your furry friend.
We want to thank all the heroes (staff and volunteers) at Pasadena Humane who are caring for these animals and saving lives. Animals continue to arrive in need of help. Donate here to help with the cost of their medical care.
