Husband Risks Life to Remove Dogs from Frontline After Wife Seriously Hurt in Bombing
Andrea Powell
A couple in Ukraine spent their time and limited resources on caring for abandoned dogs and cats near the frontline. They remained behind to care for those in need who had been forsaken by humans. Until one horrific day that changed it all.
A Russian bomb hit their home in Druzhkivka where Lera was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital. She has a broken leg, arm, and fractures all over her body. She needs specialized care but refuses to go until all her animals are safe.

Her devoted husband has returned to the war zone and is evacuating the animals to people who have stepped up to help care for them. They have already found a place for the 20 cats in their care and are slowly finding places for their 30 dogs.
These animals have been left once by their families, and Lera and her husband will not leave them again.

It is a very dangerous area as bombs continue to fall and one that only soldiers go and now this man is entering to save his beloved dogs.
The dogs are all said to be vaccinated, sterilized, and domesticated. They are once again caught in the crossfire of the war.

Krystina, owner of Under the Sun, has already taken one dog and found it a home and has said she will take five more. Lala, owner of 12 Guards, has also taken in several dogs and is looking for homes for them.
Thank you to our heroes and all who are helping to save these animals and help this couple. Your donations will help feed and care for animals taken in by Lala and Krystina from the frontline.
