Massive Irish Wolfhound Wants To Be A Lapdog

Sometimes, we meet a large dog who thinks he's a lapdog. It can be funny and sweet at times but also kind of terrifying! These dogs simply don't seem to realize how massive they are.

When my sister brought home two Great Pyrenees puppies, they wanted to be held and cuddled so much. As they started to grow, they couldn't figure out why no one wanted to hold them anymore!

It seems that's also what happened with an Irish Wolfhound.

Reddit user u/Thund3rbolt shared a video of the massive pooch in the popular subreddit r/aww.

In the clip, you can see the dog plop his massive head into his owner's lap for some cuddles. He's too big to sit in her lap, but he takes what he can get.

According to the American Kennel Club, the Irish Wolfhound is the tallest breed of dog. While they once were capable of taking down wolves, the Irish Wolfhounds we know today are amicable and docile.

The AKC notes that "A male might stand nearly 3 feet at the shoulder and weigh up to 180 pounds." That's a big dog! Despite their sweet nature, their size alone can pose risks for families with young children. A wrong misstep at 180 pounds could do some serious damage.

Overall, Irish Wolfhounds like the one in the video can be incredible sweet and affectionate. They may not fully realize how large they are, but they just want to be loved like everyone else.
