Man Discovers Abandoned Dog Hiding In His New Home
When you move into a new home, you never know what you're going to find. There may be things that were left over by the previous owner or perhaps nooks and crannies that you didn't realize were there when you first took a look.
There are also times when you may find something rather alarming. That was what one couple in St. Louis found when they opened the basement of their recently purchased home and found a dog.
According to The Dodo, the previous owners of the home didn't want to continue to care for the dog, so they chained her up in the basement. She didn't have any food or water, and they didn't let the new owners know.
As you can imagine, it was shocking to find a dog abandoned in a new home, so they called Stray Rescue of St. Louis. The team came to take care of the situation.
When the rescue team first went down in the basement, they weren't sure how the dog would react. They were cautious, but when they got close enough, the dog was very happy to see them.
It's unsure how long the dog was chained up in the dark basement but they could tell that she really wanted humans to interact with her. She wagged her tail and smiled the whole way back to the rescue.
It took three months at the rescue before she finally found a forever home. Kristen Dillingham and Joseph Mills were at the rescue looking around when they saw the dog, and they instantly knew she was the right one for them.
As they shared with The Dodo, they named her Jumping Bean because she had so much energy. At first, things were difficult at home because she had a lot of separation anxiety, but eventually, she grew out of it, and now she greets them with kisses every day.
