Man With Autism Inspires Others By Starting New Pretzel Business

Living with autism can be difficult. Everyday things, like holding a job, can be much harder for those with struggle physically, emotionally, or socially.

That's something 29-year-old Marcus Moore knows all too well. He has autism and social anxiety which make him feel like he's not cut out for the regular workplace. Rather than dwelling in self-pity, he decided to pave his own way by starting a business, Moore Crunch, in October 2022.

According to WBAL-TV 11 Baltimore, Moore has worked at grocery stores over the years, but he's always wanted to be self-sufficient. So, he combined that desire with his love of pretzels to start his business.

According to his website, he said, "I have autism and didn't like that I couldn't take care of myself without the help of my parents. They love me and I love them but I'm also trying to live on my own and fit in where I can."

After some trial and error, he decided to combine his love of pretzels with his entrepreneurial spirit. Thus, Moore Crunch was born.

It started with a booth at his local farmers market, but his since grown exponentially.

The WBAL-TV 11 Baltimore reports that since starting his business, Moore has sold over 600 bags of pretzels. He even got his pretzels into some stores!

The flavors of pretzels he offers include Cinnamon Sugar, Maryland Crab, Garlic Ranch, Buffalo, and Smokehouse Ranch. He also sells a gluten-free pretzel in the Maryland Crab flavor.

Because business is booming, Moore is currently considering his next steps. It's possible he'll find a commercial kitchen to work from or even hire other people to help out!
