Former Bait Dog Turns Into The Sweetest Pup When Rescuer Shows Him Love

It's hard to imagine that people still control dog fighting rings, but it's a sad reality that many dogs face. Even though it's illegal in the U.S., cruel people still train dogs to fight and have bait dogs to use for practice.

Raffie was one of those dogs used for bait in dog fighting. The people who had Raffie abused and neglected him in the name of "sport" and even used him to breed more dogs.

While he had an incredibly rough start to life, his nightmare eventually ended when he was rescued and later adopted by Maren in the Netherlands.

In an interview with GeoBeats Animals, Maren explained Raffie's past with dog fighting and breeding but said you'd never guess he had such a hard start to life based on his personality.

Despite his rough past, Raffie doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body! Maren shared that he wouldn't hurt a fly and turns his back to any sign of aggression.

Raffie loves other animals so much that Maren decided to adopt a second dog to be a friend for him. She found Odin, a dog who'd been abandoned by his previous owner, and got the ball rolling to adopt him.

Speaking with GeoBeats Animals, Maren said, "They were instant best friends."
