Max Greenfield and His Wife Adopt Dog Who Spent Over A Year Looking For A Home

43-year-old Max Greenfield is beloved for his iconic character Schmidt on New Girl.

Now, he's giving the world another reason to like him: his dog!

Greenfield took to Instagram on July 13 to share about the latest addition to his family.

In the Instagram post, captioned, "Meet Darlene," you can see Greenfield and his wife, casting director Tess Sanchez, with an adorable pup in between them.

Greenfield tagged Wags and Walks Rescue, a nonprofit that saves dogs from high-kill shelters and places them in loving forever homes.

Wags and Walks Rescue also shared about the adoption, writing: "We are thrilled to share that after 400 days (!!) in our care our beautiful girl Darlin has found her forever home with one of our favorite rescue advocates...According to them, 'Darlin is a million dollar dog. We knew she was the one the first day we brought her home!'"

Spending over a year in a shelter is a lot for a dog to handle! We're so glad that Max and Tess gave this dog a chance and a new place to call home.

Tess shared an Instagram tribute to the pup, calling her a "real lady."

We're not sure what her life was like before the shelter, but hopefully she'll never have to worry again. It's always nice to see high-profile people like celebrities adopting pets instead of purchasing them. It's even better to see a sweet pittie breed be represented!
