Exhibit for Two of the World's Foremost Conservation Champs & Nature Photogs Extended to July 30
Not long ago, it was announced that in May, the town of Greenwich, Connecticut, would be playing host to an exceptional exhibit featuring the work of two of the most talented individuals documenting today's conservation efforts. You've likely seen their breathtaking work over the years and just didn't realize who it was attributed to.
The visually dazzling display has been so well received that the closure date for the event has been postponed twice now. Due to popular demand, the show has been extended until July 30, 2023. What this means is that if you live in the tri-state area or are planning an upcoming visit to NYC, the gallery is a mere 40-minute train ride from Manhattan, and there's still time to catch it.
"The town of Greenwich is honored to host this exhibition at the C. Parker Gallery featuring the photographs of Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, two of the most globally celebrated photographers of our generation," stated Fred Camillo, Greenwich's First Selectman.
"These artists/conservation champions have created some of the most iconic wildlife images of our modern-day culture and are internationally acclaimed for harnessing the majestic beauty of their images to inspire change on our planet," he added.
Titled "Double Exposure, Paul Nicklen & Cristina Mittermeier, Two Photographers, One Mission," the gallery frequently highlights the works of artists whose internal lens is focused on nature, like painter Mira Lehr.
"The C. Parker Gallery is thrilled to present the work of two of the most internationally acclaimed conservation photographers," acknowledged Tiffany Benincasa, the Gallery's curator and owner.
"Their photographs are included in some of the world's most important private collections and have been featured as iconic images by major national media, including National Geographic and TIME Magazine. This is an incredible opportunity to witness the beauty of nature in an intimate and personal way, to share their important message, and join their mission advocating for greater conservation and environmental awareness," added Benincasa.
If you're not familiar, Paul Nicklen is a noted photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist whose focus has been on reflecting the natural world in extreme conditions.
"I believe that art, especially photography, has the power to connect people to stories with such deep emotion that their perspective of the world can change," Nicklen shared. "My work exists at the intersection of art, science, and conservation as a way to showcase the beauty that exists in nature."
Cristina Mittermeier has been hailed as one of the most influential conservation photographers of our time and has dedicated her life to protecting the world's oceans. During her time on the planet she has visited more than 100 countries and founded The International League of Conservation Photographers while coining the phrase "conservation photography" along the way.
"Images can help us understand the urgency to protect wild places, an urgency that so many of us realize is of the utmost importance," she was quoted as saying. "My work is about building a greater awareness of the responsibility of what it means to be human."
Between them, the exhibit is a vibrant, awe-inspiring experience for eco-warriors and naturalists that will not be soon forgotten.
