Creator Shares An Ode To The Iconic Cat On "Star Trek: The Next Generation"
If you're a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" fan, you're likely familiar with the iconic cat, Spot.
In the series, the orange tabby cat lives with her owner, Data, aboard the USS Enterprise-D and -E. Despite being affectionate with Data, Spot was hesitant and fickle towards other people she encountered, which only adds to her charm and realistic cat-like charisma.
In a sweet video shared by John DiMarco, Spot receives a highlight reel of attention and honor.
DiMarco, a self-proclaimed sci-fi nerd, shared the video ode to Spot on YouTube, writing: "'Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature...' Please enjoy this Star Trek compilation about Data's cat Spot, who has undergone some changes over the years."
In the video, you can see Spot's evolution, which is likely the result of casting a different orange cat to play the role in various episodes. In some episodes, her fur is much longer than in others.
Despite those differences, Spot remains the same iconic and loveable cat throughout the show. She also helps bring Data's character to life, as she enhances his human-like characteristics.
He may be an artificial intelligence-run android, but his care for Spot shows just how evolved he is.
