Officer Drives Elderly Woman To Hair Appointment After Spotting Her Down Busy Highway
Patrolling the streets, keeping neighborhoods safe, and fighting crime are not the only things that police officers do while on the job.
One police officer in Murfreesboro, Tennessee went above and beyond to help an 84-year-old woman.
Officer Lance Hofmeister was on a routine patrol when he came across the elderly woman walking down the side of a busy highway with her walker.
Knowing this is no place for an older person to be walking by themselves, Officer Hofmeister quickly pulled over, got out of his car, and approached the woman.
The woman, Elizabeth Goode, told the officer that she had to walk another mile to her hair appointment at Paul Mitchell Hair Studio to get a perm, because the bus she took only got her so far.
That's when Hofmeister offered to drive her to the salon so she could make her appointment in time and get there safely.
Not only did he drive her to her appointment, but he also gave her his phone number and told her he will pick her up and drive her anywhere she needs to go in the future so she wouldn't have to take the bus.
Hofmeister was happy to help Ms. Goode and says she reminded him of his own grandmother who sadly passed away a few years ago.
"I have a special place in my heart for my seniors, and it just made me feel good," Hofmeister told Inside Edition. "I think that's part of what the job is all about."
