Pregnant Rescue Pittie Can't Even Look Her Foster Mom In The Eye
Dogs become such a part of our lives that we want to share everything with them. We take care of them and show them all of the unconditional love we possibly can.
Unfortunately, not all dogs have that experience and at times, they may even be wary around humans. Such was the case with Valentine, a pitbull who was having a rough time in life.
When Valentine landed at her foster home, she was very pregnant and skittish. According to The Dodo, she was afraid of humans, and it seems as if she may have had good reason to feel that way.
Even so, her foster mom, Brie Willis was willing to try. She was patient and loving to Valentine, and that dog really needed it.
She spoke about how Valentine was skittish when she first arrived. She said it was heartbreaking because the dog was so traumatized. She kept her head bowed low and couldn't even look her foster mom in the eye.
Brie wanted to do all she could to help the dog, knowing that it wouldn't be long before she had her puppies. She wanted Valentine to be comfortable and loved so she could pass it on to her young.
The process all started with a dog cookie. The foster mom would try to give Valentine a cookie and every day, she would get a little closer.
Eventually, she was able to show Valentine just how loving she could be. Valentine would wag her tail and walk over, but she was still lacking trust.
When the two finally ventured outside of the home for the first time, it was a big step. It was also important for Valentine because she needed a comfortable place to have her puppies.
As shared by The Dodo, one morning, they thought it was the big day. Valentine was laying down on the bed and the puppies were kicking inside of her.
It was a false alarm.
Eventually, however, Valentine started nesting and digging in the bed. Her foster mom knew that the time had come, and before long, she was announcing that they had six new puppies in the family.
These two really came a long way in their relationship and you can see more about it in this video:
