Woman Gives Birth To Rare Quintuplets With 4 Identical Girls
When Shawn and Haylee Ladner discovered they were pregnant, they were expecting to have twins. Needless to say, they were shocked to discover the pregnancy actually included five babies, including four identical girls!
Back in October 2022, Haylee took to Facebook to announce her pregnancy with quintuplets.
In the post, she wrote:
"As many of you know, Shawn and I had our third IUI in August. We were excited to find out we were pregnant, but little did we know, we were not pregnant with 1 baby but 5 babies! Yes, you read that right, 5 babies! We are both very excited and honestly a little nervous to embark on this journey. As of right now, all of the babies are measuring on time and have strong little heartbeats. Please keep us in your prayers as we move toward our new adventure!"
While being pregnant with quintuplets is wild enough, the couple later found out that four of the babies were identical girls!
In a GoFundMe, the couple explained that they'd been trying to get pregnant for two years before turning to fertility treatments.
They said, "So we sought fertility treatments in the form of an IUI, not to be confused with IVF. This form of therapy specializes in the timing of the cycle and optimizing your chances for conception. When we went for our appointment, my wife had two viable eggs to be fertilized, so we thought twins would be the max. But then one egg split four times, making identical quadruplets."
The doctor told them it was a "one in ten million chance."
While the pregnancy was definitely high-risk, Haylee ended up giving birth to the five babies on February 16, 2023. She shared a sweet video of her pregnancy and babies on Facebook:
On April 9, Haylee shared her first public photo of her five babies: Everleigh, Jake, Adalyn, Malley Kate, Magnolia.
The babies can be seen laying together in an ICU crib, connected to tubes and wires but looking adorable as ever.
They're truly a miracle!
