Rescue Dog Recovering From Broken Leg Does "Zoomies" For The Very First Time
When Tony the pup found himself in a shelter all alone, his life wasn't looking promising. The poor dog was in need of medical attention but also needed someone to give him a chance at life.
Thankfully, help came at just the right time when a woman with a rescue walked in and noticed the dog.
In an interview with The Dodo, Nicole with Pips Rescue explained that she saw Tony in the shelter and knew she had to welcome him into her rescue.
You see, Pips Rescue specifically focuses on rescuing dogs with special needs and medical cases in and around North Carolina. When Nicole saw Tony at the shelter, she immediately realized his leg was injured and it was so bad, he might need it amputated.
In a regular shelter setting, dogs like Tony often end up euthanized. Thankfully, Nicole immediately got Tony out of the kennel and into a veterinarian to have his leg evaluated.
Thankfully, the veterinarian decided his leg could likely be saved with surgery, and Tony was all set to go in.
Nicole shared with The Dodo that it was during his surgery that Tony met someone very special: a veterinary staff member named Stephanie.
Stephanie felt a special connection with Tony and wanted to welcome him in as a foster dog, which Nicole was more than thrilled about. As Tony recovered with Stephanie, however, she realized that she never wanted to let him go.
It wasn't long before Tony became a foster fail and was officially a part of Stephanie's family. Perhaps the most exciting part was getting to see him stretch his legs and fully run off-leash for the first time since surgery. It happened on his adoption day, and for the first time, Tony got to experience some full-blown zoomies!
