Bennett is his name. He is 50 pounds and full of love.
On November 17, Bennett was brought into my work - He had been hit by a car. He was carried in by one of my coworkers, who rushed to assist him and make sure he was okay.

I knew that I wanted to help. The following morning, I found out that Bennett wasn't doing the best. It seemed he could not walk; his paws would bend under and he couldn't stand correctly.
The doctors knew he had some sort of spinal injury, not to mention he had fluid and other junk in his stomach from scrounging for food while being out on his own. He was slightly malnourished, but I didn't care. I was determined to help him!
Everyone had pretty much given up on Bennett - with the injuries to his spinal cord, it made it difficult to do surgery to remove the fluid from his stomach. He became really lethargic. I asked if I could just take him home. I wanted him to be surrounded by people who cared. I wanted him to be out of the hospital. I wanted to help him, and I felt that he was just depressed at the vet. So, with the doctor's permission, I took Bennett home.

Thursday night, I remember it so well. I made him a warm and cozy bed next to mine. I got up and walked away. Next thing I knew, I heard a loud thud! When I walked around the corner, Bennett was attempting to walk! Something the doctors thought would never happen!
I worked with him constantly, carrying him if he could not walk and assisting him when he was trying. As of Thanksgiving, I am PROUD to say Bennett was running! Not just walking, but running.
We went for a checkup at the hospital, and the doctor's words were exactly this: "Miracles happen." I believe that 150 percent!

I love Bennett, and I am forever thankful that he is in my life!
