Total chaos sums up the last couple of days.
The relentless weather has also made it rain kittens for Best Friends Felines.
There are 17 kittens in total that we took on over the last few days, all found in the rain and subsequent floods. Many of these would be babies that mum cats were moving to higher ground when they have been found and taken to vet clinics, meaning there are probably more babies that Mum was going back for.
While that is out of our control, and our heart aches for Mumma wondering where her babies are and us wondering if the other babies are okay, we have to focus on what we can do. We have been keeping incredibly busy by collecting all these babies from various vet clinics and people's houses and getting them all into BFF care – nearly every single one of these little ones are bottle babies.
We have a single kitten found in a tree. We have one found in a shed half-drowned next to their deceased sibling. We have kittens found in yards, kittens found in a drain, kittens found on the streets... basically they came from everywhere.
BFF have done their best to get these little ones into safety, but we are pushed to the brink and have 300 felines now in care with these 17 new intakes. This is the highest number in care we have ever seen, and so much for our 200 quota!
During these difficult times, please keep your eyes out for wildlife and domestic animals in distress.
